Arts For All AFA Overview

The Arts For All 5.47kW PV Plant was installed and commissioned in October, 2009 in Tucson, Arizona as part of a local grant program. Arts for All, Inc was awarded the Solar Grant by Technicians For Sustainability, a local design and build firm that awards two solar grants per year to local non-profits. One hundred percent of the system costs are covered by the grant, allowing Arts for All, Inc to benefit from the monthly financial savings due to the solar electricity production. Arts for All was chosen in part due to their established energy and resource conservation program that includes recycling, reusing and recycling materials for art projects, encouraging alternate transportation methods, and planting native, low water use plants.  The solar electric (photovoltaic) system will lower their electrical bills by $90 - $100 per month, and provide insulation against rising utility rates. In addition, Arts for All will use the solar system as part of an environmental education and awareness program for the students they serve.  The array consists of (21) 260W Schott modules, all mounted at a 20o angle, powering a Sun Power 5000 inverter.
