City Hall Project Description
Since securing planning permission
through the London Borough of Southwark, the
London Climate Change Agency has worked with
the landlord moreLondon, the building tenant GLA, the architects Foster+Partners,
building engineers Arup, roof designers seele and principal photovoltaic system
designers and installers Solar Technologies to deliver a flagship renewable
energy project as a retrofit on one of London’s most iconic buildings - City
Hall.
Financial support was provided by the London Climate
Change Agency and by the DTI's (now Department for Business Enterprise & Regulatory
Reform) Photovoltaic Demonstration Programme administered by the Energy Saving
Trust.
The roof PVs were commissioned and connected to the grid
on 6 September 2007; the 'eyelash' installation was completed at the end of October and commissioned during November.
