Description:

Midland Solar System

The solar system is located on roofs of the Foundry and Pattern Shop buildings of the former Midland Railway Workshops (Workshops) a major heritage asset of Western Australia (WA) which is being transformed into a multi-use centre of education, artistic, commercial and residential activity by the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority (MRA).

The Foundry and Pattern Shop are the core of the creative industries precinct – ‘Midland Atelier’ a joint venture between the MRA and FORM – an independent not for profit organisation dedicated to advocating and developing creativity in WA. The electricity generated by the solar system will be used to run the lights and equipment need by the resident artisans in the creation of their unique wares.

The MRA and FORM gratefully acknowledge the financial support for this iconic solar system provided by the Australian Government’s Perth Solar City Program.
