Description:

The $2.9 million, 290 kW Carnarvon Solar Power Station is the first PPA supported Solar Power Station in Western Australia. Connected to Horizon Power's network, the station produces 600,000 kWh annually, offsetting 180,000 litres of diesel representing a saving of 483 tonnes CO2.

The project is supported by the Australian Government through the renewable remote power generation program. The program is implemented by the State's Office of Energy in Western Australia.

The station was commissioned in December 2011, energy production is due to commence under a 15 year power purchase agreement with Horizon Power. This is the first of a 50 MW staged rollout of solar power stations by EMC across Western Australia.
