Description:

In July of 2011 Autonomous Energy Pty. Ltd. installed a 8.36kW solar power system at Monte Sant' Angelo Mercy College, one of Sydney’s leading independent  schools. This system is one of many solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in Sydney installed under the Commonwealth Government’s National Solar Schools Program.

The system comprises of 44 high efficiency 190W mono-crystalline PV solar modules manufactured by ET Solar. The array is mounted on engineered, solar specific mounting equipment and is connected to a SMA inverter via premium quality (USE2 rated) DC solar cabling. The inverter connects to the electricty network via a bi-directional CT meter which enables Monte Sant' Angelo Mercy College to use the solar power in the school first and any excess energy to flow out to the electricity network.

A specialised data monitoring system has also been installed which collects and displays a whole range of data including the solar power output from the inverter, sunlight levels, ambient temperature, cell temperature and much more. This data is presented on a specialised online web portal. The raw data is also being collected by the school to be integrated into the school's learning program.

Monte Sant' Angelo Mercy College, in conjunction with Autonomous Energy, is also undertaking an energy audit and is implementing a  range of energy efficiency measures to reduce the energy usage of the school.
