Athenian Dase Center Overview of the Project
The new Dase Center with 25kW Photovoltaic Array
A bit about the project:
The Athenian School is an independent school that provides an engaging, challenging education on a beautiful 75-acre campus at the base of Mt. Diablo, in Danville, CA east of San Francisco.

Athenian's philosophy is guided by a strong belief in the promise of young people to shape a better world. Its vibrant educational community offers an outstanding and multifaceted curriculum and also teaches young people to think critically and to approach learning with curiosity and resourcefulness.

Athenian, a member of the Round Square School organization, is a community that strives to uphold the ideals of democracy, responsibility and citizenship. Students are challenged intellectually, creatively, personally and socially, so that when they graduate, they are well prepared for the demands of higher education and for a life of purpose and personal fulfillment.

A new multi-purpose building, The Eleanor Dase Center was constructed in 2009 and houses the School’s music programs and serves as a place where students can practice sports and gather for meetings and school assemblies. The building is one of the centerpieces of the School’s Pillar Campaign — a $12 million five-year initiative to increase the endowment, support programs, and build state-of-the-art facilities for music, sports, and learning.  Bob Oxenburgh, the school's Director of Finance & Administration, described the project as setting environmentally friendly standards in its construction, including the installation of a 25kW PV solar array on its metal roof. The array consists of 140 Yingli Solar 175 watt modules (25.2kW) and 4 SMA inverters and also powers the neighboring Orchard building. Athenian is now an EPA Green Power Partner.
