Description:
Grid-tied 6.44 kWp system at Virginia Tech's Research Center at Arlington, Virginia USA
Overall project design, coordination and supervision was undertaken by CEAGE led by Prof. Saifur Rahman, Director of Virginia Tech’s Advanced Research Institute (ARI). Yonael Teklu, Energy Systems and IT Specialist at ARI, managed the technical, engineering and implementation aspects of the project. He also designed and installed the data logging and monitoring system for the plant. In addition to monitoring the plant’s electrical production, the system will record meteorological data such as solar radiation, wind speed and temperature.
The contractor for the project was Northeast Construction Inc. of Richmond, VA.
LG USA contributed the solar photovoltaic modules for the project.
Details of the system are as follows:
• Solar PV: LG230M1C Monocrystalline, 230Wp, 28 modules totaling 6440 Watts
• Inverter: Sunny Boy 6000-US, 6000VA at 208V
• Monitoring and Data Logging: Sunny SensorBox and WebBox
• Racking: UniRac’s RapidRac G-10 system
